Frankie’s Story: A Six Year Old Dog Proves It Is Never Too Late

Frankie was six years old when her owner brought her to Off Leash K9 Training, Jersey Shore. She had always been a sweet dog. She had also spent six years doing more or less what she wanted.

You can read Frankie’s full review on Google – her owner wrote it herself.

Where Frankie Started

Her owner put it honestly: sweet, but very disobedient. Frankie would not come when she was called. She jumped on guests. She pulled on the leash on every walk.

None of that is unusual, and none of it is dangerous on its own. Together, over six years, it adds up to a dog who is loved and still hard work every single day.

The Training Journey

Frankie came in for our two week board and train. For two weeks she lived with our team and worked on obedience every day, with the problems her owner had named in mind: the recall she did not have, the jumping on guests and the pulling on the leash.

Age is rarely the obstacle owners expect. An older dog just has more practice at her old habits. The job is to give her a clear new routine and enough repetition that the new way becomes the easy way.

Frankie’s Wins

After two weeks, her owner’s words were simple: it is like having a brand new dog. Frankie now listens well to her commands.

Just as important to her owner, Frankie is still her happy, silly self. Good training should never take the personality out of a dog. It should make that personality easier to live with.

What It Changed for Her Family

A dog who listens is a dog you can take more places and worry about less. For Frankie’s owner, the difference was big enough that she called the result a brand new dog, and she is grateful for it. She thanked Jennifer by name in her review.

Why Frankie’s Story Matters

Owners of older dogs often wonder whether it is too late. Frankie is a good answer to that. At Off Leash K9 Training Jersey Shore we train dogs of every age, and a grown dog with years of bad habits can still learn a new way to live in two weeks.
