Where Oliver Started

Oliver was a year old. He still needed the manners a lot of dogs never quite finish learning as puppies, and beyond that his owner had a specific ambition. She wanted long walks with her dog off the leash, and she did not want to spend those walks hoping.

The Training Journey

Oliver spent two weeks in a board and train at Off Leash K9 Training Jersey Shore with Val.

Every day she sent his owner an update on how he was getting on. That matters more than it sounds when your dog is two weeks into someone else’s house, and his owner names it as one of the things that made the experience. Her words about Val are the ones worth quoting: she knows Val really cared for Oliver as though he were her own.

Then she did her part, and she is refreshingly straight about it. It took work from her once he was home. Within a few months of keeping it up, she could walk Oliver completely off leash, including on very long walks. She now recommends us to anyone whose goal is the same as hers was.

What It Changed for His Family

Walking a dog off leash changes what a walk is. It stops being an errand you steer through and becomes time you both actually get something out of. Long walks that used to depend on a lead now do not.
